It has been announced that on Saturday, Mrs. Clinton will formally cede the nomination to Mr. Obama and endorse him. They will have their "money shot" moment where they raise each others' hands in a show of unity, and from there, Mrs. Clinton will try to figure out a way to glom onto the Obama money machine to attempt to retire what must be a huge amount of debt, including of course the $5 million she loaned to her campaign after Super Tuesday. Would that we all could write ourselves checks for that much money. And have them clear the bank. This is obviously a welcome development, and I truly hope that those of Mrs. Clinton's supporters who may right now be disillusioned with the state of the Democratic party will, in time realize that not only did Mrs. Clinton make history by making a serious run for the Presidency - a first for a woman, a gender that could not even vote until the Constitution was amended for the 19th time, but that even more remarkable, a man of color, who, in the time before 1863 and Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, would have been viewed as a piece of real estate, not even as a human being. At least white women, while certainly exploited, were human. We've come a long way, baby.
