AIPAC, American Dreams and Israel

The trial of two former AIPAC officials starts next month, and Jews’ supposed “dual loyalty” will be on trial too, in court if not in the media and the bovine fecal matter is going to hit the fan, believe me. I am frankly more concerned with the ability of this country to be an effective friend to Israel right now than I am with Israel itself. I have no doubt that Israel will, in the end, be OK. I do not need to remind anyone that the current regime has utterly trashed that little thing called The Constitution and it’s high time for us to get our own house in order so that the rest of the world doesn’t laugh at us when we say “leave Israel alone” because they think we are a bloated, toothless and altogether wretched paper tiger. Anything less than a hard turn left will be politics as usual and government as usual. And lest we complain too loudly if we do not, we need only look in the mirror to find the guilty parties who were complicit in aiding the demise of America as a reliable and strong friend to anybody, including Israel.
